I'm worse than the kids! It's Christmas Eve eve!!

I woke up to the sound of my hubby getting ready for work. With my insomnia, no way I was getting back to sleep, but I ususally just enjoy the quiet for an hour or so. Today I bounced out of bed, wooohoo! Two more days and a wake-up until Christmas! I can't wait. I look forward to not just the looks on the kids' faces and them getting some of the things they wanted, but also the less physical stuff. I look forward to the blend of scents, the morning coffee and the soon-roasting turkey. I love the sounds of the parade on in one room and Christmas music playing in the kitchen. The anticipation is glorious, but it's also making me so impatient!

I have not decided if today should be math, science, history and grammar, just to be sure they love vacation all the more. Or should it be math, history and then VACATION!! Watch Christmas movies!! Haha!

Merry Christmas. I just can't wait.

Its almost Christmas, thank God!

This is being posted via my Ipad so it will be short. I cant get used to this keypad for typing!

Finally everything is bought and wrapped. I think im more excited about Christmas than the kids are. To tell the truth though, Im tired of Christmas music so lets get it on already!!

I sent out twenty query letters for Whispers of Angels last week and got seven rejections within three minutes of emailing the publishers. Do they really still publish hard copies??? Sigh Soooooo I lowered my price and now all three published on amazon.com are 99 cents each and doing ratherbwell for an unknown ;)

Sick and tired! Oh, and missing PA

Well, I caught my son's cold. Funny how I'm sicker, longer, but better me than him. When I cough, it feels like my lungs are going to be torn out and come firing through my ears, which I take for a sign of healing? Got to be.

I've been missing Pennsylvania, State College actually. I don't miss the weather and wouldn't want my kids to deal with those driving issues, but I miss the people. I miss living somewhere I could WALK to anything I wanted to do. I lived a block from a grocery store and a pizza parlor growing up. That was great. A longer walk and I was 'in town' and could hang out, go to the arcade (dating myself here) a movie or ohmygosh, get a Penn State Diner sticky! I miss those a lot, too.

I especially miss our cabin. My grandparents had a cabin in Huntingdon and I can't seem to get it out of my mind lately. Thanks to really slacker parents, even as a pre-teen I could climb into our row boat and be gone all day. I'd fish, explore or swim, it was great. It was a like a storybook childhood, at least when we were there. I so dream of being able to offer that to my kids, but my oldest is 14 and I only ever get one number right on lottery tickets, so unless God intervenes, it's all just a dream.

I watched quite a bit of Netflix this weekend while I coughed and whined on the recliner. I think my favorite was watching A River Runs Through It with my oldest. I guess it's probably due to the cabin dreams, but we really enjoyed it. I think it made him long for that kind of nature and freedom as well. I so wish I could give that kind of life to my kids.

I also watched a few documentaries, my favorite this weekend was I hope the link works! It was All In This Tea. I love tea, so this made me think I'm getting ripped off even with the Republic Of Tea and Stash Tea I drink!!

Welp, off to look up Silk Road teas. Have a lovely.

Two books for .99 cents each and one at 2.99

(Please click on the book cover images to take you to my book store or you can find me by name on Amazon.com, just search Sheri Gill.)

Well, it's been a long year! I have been trying to come up with ways to drive some business toward my books and other than becoming infamous, I can't think of much.

I lowered two of my books to just .99 cents each. My Recession cookbook and my baby, A Knight In Glendalough are both under a dollar. (They can be read via your computer, ipad/ipod or other book reader. Just go to amazon.com and load.)

I have to say, it was really difficult to lower A Knight In Glendalough, it really is my favorite book. I think it transports the reader to a wonderful, magical place where they can get to know exciting, quirky characters they never want to leave. It took me a few years to write it and edit it. I completely pictured Random House selling it for 14.95 but alas, it's not to be.

My cookbook, well that was just fun. I have been collecting recipe boxes from ebay and yard sales and family members for a long time. I have whittled down my recipes to my very favorites; all of them being frugal. There are no crazy spices you have to run out and buy then never use again, and you don't need a fish monger or a butcher. Just great family faves that my kids love, and that's saying something.

Whispers Of Angels is still at 2.99 and I'm trying to decide if I should lower it as well. I just don't know. It's hard to sell your hard work, days and nights at the computer, for so little. But I really need to circulate my stories more and get some kind of fan base. Hey, maybe I'm talking myself into it...

Well, off to do school with the kids and clean..see, there is so much to celebrate this time of year!!

Three books published, 2 novels and a frugal cookbook!

I have finally gotten three books published for electronic reading via amazon.com! I have A Knight In Glendalough and Whispers Of Angels, both very different novels. Now I have published my cookbook, The Recession Era Cookbook 2010. Yay!!! I've already sold one copy. :D You can do a search for SHERI GILL on amazon.com or here is the link that won't seem to work:

I've given up on Random House calling me late one afternoon.

I've always wanted to be published and I think my stories are good, important in many ways. But that's me saying so! Yet, I really wanted to get a call from Random House or another big name publisher, telling me they love my stories and a check is in the mail.

Then I started going to a (wonderful!) writers' group in my area. Well, it brought me down a lot because these folks have wanted to be writers far longer than I have, and they are still feeling the same things I am at 42.

Of course, I have to share my silly story here. In my book A Knight In Glendalough, which I wrote years ago, I have young boys as Knights in a community where everyone comes from an abusive home or tough background. Well, the main character suffers from a very low self esteem (I come from an abusive background, so that led to writing this book, in parta anyhow) and he's asked to become a KNIGHT! Part of this adventure requires him to go into dangerous territory and fight off these evil little creatures...who hide very powerful berries...that the people of Glendalough need for medicines. Back then I did a lot of research, looking for some cool-named berry that no one had heard of, something mystical sounding but REAL. Well, I found...get ready for this...goji berries.

So years pass and I'm still waiting for that Random Call as it's come to be known. I think maybe God is trying to tell me getting published won't happen. Then what? My aunt in Bellefonte, Pa calls to share her latest weight loss newbie thing on the market..using Goji Berries!! Then what? OHMYGOSH there is Goji berry juice in WALMART!!! Wow!! I can't help but think this is (hoping) a sign, keep going. Keep going.

So even if you don't buy my book, think of me when you see Goji Berry juice and yogurt and dried fruit snacks hahahaha!

I went with publishing on Amazon.com I priced my books at only $2.99 (now two of them are down to .99 cents each, hoping to generate some business) You can read them on your laptop, personal desktop computer, any and all brands of eReaders. If you find a typo here and there, I hope you will let me know!
